Power(ful) Plants

October 15, 2012

Kick-off – meeting of MultiBioPro at the Max-Planck-Institute for molecular plant physiology in Potsdam, 15.10 - 16.10. 2012 Potsdam, Germany

The MultiBioPro Consortium

Ever heard about Nicotiana glauca? It's a strange little thing: A tobacco plant without tobacco. Accompanied by poplar, both plants are the object of desire of the  MultiBioPro project.

MultiBioPro aims to produce industrial bioproducts and biomass out of Nicotiana glauca and poplar. Biomass originates from plants, organic waste, semi-liquid manure and is used to produce electricity, heat and biodiesel. Dr. Staffan Persson from Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology coordinates MultiBioPro. It is a European research project with 11 partners from renowned institutions and universities. MultiBioPro is financed by the European Union within its Framework Programme 7 (FP7) for 48 months with € 5.770,922.
