MultiBioPro Consortium members give training at VIB on Dec 4th, 2015

Scientific Training Session “Advances in Cellular Metabolomics: a plant perspective” in Gent

“Plant Metabolomics is the study of metabolic pathways and processes to understand how plants grow and carry out functions. In recent years, there has been a switch to a more holistic view of metabolomes. Instead of looking at individual pathways and metabolites, scientists are looking at interactions, broad pictures, and regulations.“

The scientific training session at VIB in Gent on Dec 4th, 2015 aims at providing an overview of the state of the art in metabolomics and will also touch upon “several metabolomics methods which are currently being developed to address the bottlenecks in the plant metabolomics field”.

Wout Boerjan (PI for VIB in MultiBioPro) will address the topic “Comparative metabolite profiling to discover new enzymes in phenylpropanoid biosynthesis”, Alisdair Fernie (MPG and MultiBioPro Coordinator) will speak on “Genome-enabled metabolomics”, and Kris Morreel (VIB) will give a presentation on “Tackling the barriers in metabolomics: a focus on structural characterization”. The full program can be found here. Registration to the training is open until November 24th, 2015.
